He wrote the first story in 1887, while he was still a doctor, and in the next twenty years he wrote fifty more. The Sherlock Holmes stories, his most famous work, are about the detective Sherlock Holmes. Sherlock Holmes lived in Baker Street with his assistant, Doctor Watson.
